Like the Mystery Machine which it resembles, the Mission Machine signifies its purpose.   And the mission that Jesus taught us is love.  

The Mission Machine is owned by St. James United Methodist Church in Tampa, FL.   We believe that Jesus called us to Love one another through service and kindness.

Most recently, the Mission Machine has been used to show the loving kindness of Jesus to the Sunday morning street-corner paper sellers.  While Sunday morning is usually a leisurely morning where many of us relax and / or go to church, these folks work out in the hot sun selling papers. 

We thought it would be nice to simply show them some love by buying their papers from them and handing them out for free so they could sit, relax, and eat breakfast while we did the work.

We've been asked, what's the catch?   And there is no catch.   We simply wanted to bring some love to the paper sellers who work hard each Sunday morning, and by default that means we show love to you with a free paper :-)
